Early on in January 2010 there was official confirmation and plans to release a Freeview HD TV in the UK. It was the well known company LG who made the announcement at the CES 2010 in Las Vegas. LG said that in March 2010 they hope to be able to release a range of LCD TVs with integrated Freeview HD receivers. Other companies looking to follow suit are Sony, Samsung, Panasonic to name a few all who will be making similar announcements and launch their own version of a Freeview HD TV in the not too distant future.

Freeview HD TV's

It is important to understand one point. HD TV's with built in Freeview are NOT capable of receiving "Freeview HD"!

Back in December 2009, Freeview HD launched in selected regions of the UK (initially transmitting in Manchester and London). This is a world first as it is the first HD terrestrial service (in the whole world) to make use of the latest DVB-T2 tuner technology. Having done a lot of research FreeviewHD-TV has discovered that there are ambitious expansion plans and the aim is for Freeview HD to be accessible to 50% of the UK in time for the start of the World Cup in June 2010. This may seem excellent but at present there are no Freeview HD TV's available to buy in the UK. Your existing TV (whether it is HD capable or not) will not be able to receive the new Freeview HD channels without getting a HD Freeview Box.

Our advise is that if you are currently looking to buy a new TV - whether this is a LCD TV, Plasma TV, Wide Screen TV or Portable TV (In fact.. any kind of TV) make sure you don't buy one unless it has an DVB-T2 tuner (or more simply known as a integrated Freeview HD tuner). It is important to reliase that just because a new TV says it is HD Ready or has Full HD it doesn't mean it will receive the new Freeview HD Channels. It has to have the DVB-T2 tuner - its only going to be a few weeks until they are available (March 2010) so its going to be worth the wait.

Freeview HD TV Reviews

Argos have included a Freeview HD TV in their Spring / Summer 2010 catalogue but limited details are available and they are only available to pre-order. The day they become available, FreeviewHD-TV will feature impartial reviews, information and advice about the Freeview HD TVs. These HD Freeview TV's won't be cheap so we want to ensure that you get the best deal available.

Freeview HD TV Price Comparison

As well as reviews, information and news about Freeview HD TV's one of the main features of this site will be the price comparison feature. We have the latest price comparison software which scans all the high street and online retailers every 24hours to help you find the cheapest price and best deal. Our tool then provides you a link directly to the site where you can purchase the Freeview HD TV.

Available Freeview HD TV's

Early on in 2010 various Freeview HD channels began transmitting. The major broadcasters such as ITV, the BBC and Channel 4 were the first to send their HD signal but others will not be far behind. There is now a lot of hype about the best way of receiving these Freeview HD channels - Via a Freeview HD TV.

The difference between a HD Freeview Receiver and a Freeview HD TV is that the receiver is just that.. a receiver. To view the HD signal you will still require a HD-Ready TV. If you are looking at buying a new TV then make sure it has a Freeview HD Receiver built into it. This way there is no need to buy a seperate box at a later date and you will, in the future, be able to receive some of the 3D HD Channels when they become available.

There are not many HD TV's with built in Freeview HD available so we have created a summary of the ones currently on the UK market. Our aim is to review every Freeview HD Tv as they become available - obviously we may miss the odd one so if you would like a particular TV reviewing please get in contact.

Sony Freeview HD TV's

Sony are leading the way with their range of Tv's. According to the official Freeview.co.uk Web site, Sony have over 31 different models of TV with built in Freeview HD receivers. It appears that Sony have been the first to see the ligth and are now fitting all their new TV's with Freeview HD Tuners.

Looking at the high end of the Sony range of TV's, you'll find the new Sony HX903 TV range which is the most high tech TV seen on UK shop shelves. Not only do the HX903 TV's have built in Freeview HD tuners but they also have full HD 3D so you will be able to receive 3D TV channels when they begin transmitting later in the year.

Sony's range of HX TVs are most definitely aimed at those people who love having the latest 'must have' electrical items and want to have the best home-cinema experience possible. The HX903 are available in two large sizes, 46" or 52" (inch) visible sized screens both of which have a 400Hz panel. This 400HZ pannel makes the 3D TV picture look amazingly sharp and smooth which is really important with 3D technology.

The Sony LX TV range is marketed in a very different way. The LD HD TV's are marketed to the fashion guru's of the TV world. The LX Freeview HD range is more design focused, its looking at the people who do not care so much about fancy features and more at those people who want the best looking TV on the market. The Sony LS TV range does look good, and would look stunning in the corner of a hi-tech, modern city centre apartment.

The Sony LX Freeview TV range comes in 40" and 60" (inch) versions. If your looking to future proof your TV for the 3D revolution then you can buy an additional pack for certain models which allow for 3D compatibility. As well as the smooth curves, subtle colours the Sony LX TV's have delicate LED lights down the edge of the screen which make it look great in lower lighting, without being distracting. This TV range really is designed to be the centre piece of a living room.

To compliment the LX range, Sony released the EX TV range. This can be seen as Sony's most generic TV range covering all areas of the market.. maybe we should describe it as the 'Jack of all TV's'. The Sony EX Freeview television HD range combines decent performance, reasonable looks with a competitive price tag. The EX HS TV range covers a range of different sizes, starting at a mere 32" (inches) and going right up to a giant 60" (inch) screen the EX range has a TV for everyone. LED Lighting around the side of the screen comes as standard and adds a classy touch to the TV (and makes it look expensive). In terms of the size of the EX range they are actually pretty slim which is surprising considering that they offer in built Internet streaming as well as a couple of half decent energy saving features as well. Prices start at around £500 for the cheapest 32" model and go up to £1000+ for the most deluxe model.

Full Sony Bravia Freeview HD TV Range Now Available

The Bravia range is the first complete Sony TV range to come with an in-built Freeview HD Tuner in the TV. Unlike many other TV manufacturers that only offer one or two televisions with Freeview HD TV facilities this is a complete range from the TV Giant Sony.

Out of all the TV's currently being produced the following models all have integrated Freeview HD Tv receivers: Bravia EX, Bravia HX and Bravia NX. All these Freeview HD TV's have been given Sony's unique style and design. They claim that they will fit into any new house without being an eye sore.. thats some statement but probably true.

From where were coming from its not the style or looks thats important, its the fact they they all have a integrated Freeview High Definition tuner which allows them to receive the new digital HD channels without the need for an expensive HD Freeview Box.

Panasonic Freeview HD Televisions

Panasonic are one of the only manufacturers in the UK which offer TV's that can receive both Freeview HD and freesat HD. Freesat is a similar, but less popular, version of Freeview but has been around for longer. The Panasonic solution is a great idea and gives you a backup method for receiving reliable HD channels and services. With Freesat HD you will need a satellite dish fitting to the outside of your building (similar to Sky TV). The major advantage of Freesat is that because it works off satellites rather than transmitting towers there is almost 100% coverage in the UK.

At the top end of the Panasonic Freeview HD TV range are the 55VT20 and the slightly smaller 50VT20 TV. The only real difference between the two is that the 55VT20 has a 55" screen and the 50VT20 has, yes you guessed it, a 50" screen. Both of these TV's are HD ready as well as 3D ready. Unlike other 3d televisions, these models actually come with 2 pairs of 3D glasses. Both the top end Panasonic TV's will also be able to handle and run 3D Blu-ray disks and decode the new Sky 3D channels as and when they begin transmitting.

There are some smaller screen HD Televisions which fall under the G20 range. These G20 models come in 50", 46" and 42" versions but none of them are 3d ready. The Freeview High Definition quality is good though and the quality of the screens is decent too. These HD Televisions come with the all important Freeview HD twin tuner and freesat HD tuners which allows you to watch / recorder different channels at the same time. Obviously both can receive Freesat too, assuming you have the dish installed. These TV's all offer the renowned Panasonic features, including the super blacks feature which has a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio as well as 600Hz sub-field panels which gives the screen a smooth motion, even in the fastest fight scenes. These Panasonic televisions are good value, entry-level TV's that are much better than having a normal TV and a separate Freeview receiver.

LG HD Freeview TVs

The Korean electronics company LG have released various different models of Freeview HD TV's in the UK. The HD Freeview Telvisions are available across many of their TV ranges including their popular LED backlit LCDs as well as some of the standard LCDs and regular plasma TVs.

Out of all the major electronics manufacturers, LG have one of the largest number of plasma TVs on the market. Within the plasma series there are a total of 3 different TV ranges which all contain two different TVs. Each of the different plasma TVs come in a respectible 50 inch or the whopping 60 inche screen size. If your looking for a great TV with an integrated Freeview HD tuner then look out for the models with PK990, PK790 or PK590 in the model number / name. In the past the the 50PK590 TV and the 50PK790 TV have had some excellent reviews and are renowned for having a fantastic picture quality with amazing black levels.

If you are not a fan of the plasma Freeview TV then consider the LG LCD TV range. If LCD is your cup of tea then have a look at the LD 690 and the LD790 TV ranges. These TV ranges both come in three different sizes: 32 inch, 42 inch and 47 inch with the biggest LD790 HD TV going up another level to 55 inch.

If you opt for the LG LED backlit HD TV model then they have Freeview high definition tuners integrated into them already. Looking towards the top of the TV series we can see the LG LX9900 which was one of the first LG TV's to have 3D capabilities. The screen has a respectible 400Hz and is available in two different sizes: 47inch and 55inch. Another Lg TV that falls into this category is the LG LE8900 range which has a lower 200hz panels but is available in three sizes: 55 inches, 47 inches and 42-inchs. With both these HD Freeview TV's you get access to the popular NetCast video streaming service. This allows you to stream videos from websites such as YouTube.

LG also offer the LX6900 Freeview HD Tv which is anopther of their 3D Television ranges. With this TV range you will have to buy the 3D glasses seperately but it does have the ability to receive the 3D broadcast signals. Of course the LG 3D TV glasses will be freely available and not be too expensive. For the time being we will not be able to receive 3D via Freeview or Freeview HD, you'll need a paid service like Sky or Virgin.

LG's HD Freeview TVs in the LE7900 series will be available in 32, 37, 42, 47 and 55 inch screen sizes. These high definition Televisions are a piece of the popular Infina series which are renowned for being great looking. The LG LE5900 Freeview HD TVs come with the same sized screens as the other range but only have a 100Hz picture panels. They aren't going to take over the world with their features but if your looking for a cheaper alternative to get HD Freeview Channels on your TV then these are a decent option.

What is High Definition

High Definition TV Channels have been broadcasting in the UK since December 2009; offering viewers a previously unseen audio and picture quality. And what makesa this eevn better is the fact it is Free. Well ast least its Free to receive once you have the equipment.

Put simply, if you have a high definition television it is able to offer you a more detailed and clear picture of the program. Until Freeview HD the only way you could make use of the Freeview HD ability of your Television was via DVD or Blu-Ray. With the Freeview HD signal now being transmitted you can now watch 'normal' TV channels in high definition.

It doesn't matter what TV signal you receive, be it digial or analogue or digital, the end display is just a series of pixels (or dots) on a screen. The difference with High Definition Televisions is that you get many more dots per inch (DPI) whcih means that the picture quality is better and much sharper. This is not always noticeable, it depends on the program, but it becomes particularly obvious during sports games when players are small on the screen (eg. in a football match when its a zoomed out camera angle. With Freeview HD Channels the players retain their detail when on a HD screen but can become blurry on normal TV.

Is Digital TV different to high-definition TV?

Panasonic DMR-XW380EBK DVD Recorder with Freeview HD. Well.. yes and No.

High Definition TV is transmitted using Digital Television channels. Without Digital TV, HD TV would not be possible. It is improtant to note that not all digital channels are transmitted in high definition. To convert a old analogue signal into HD we must first 'digitise' the old analogue TV system. This involved converting the signals being transmitted to be in digital form, in the same way DAB Radio is transmitted. The benefit of this is that the qualtity of picture information is not affected but the efficiency of which the signal is sent is greatly imporved, allowing a more consistent picture quality to be received and as the system is more efficient more data channels can be sent. This digital system is then upscaled to HD, IE. more pixels are sent for every frame of a video which further improves the quality of the program you watch on your Freeview HD TV.

What Is The Best Size OF Screen For Freeview HD?

There is no optimum TV screen size as such, however some people say the bigger the better. In Actual fact to get the most out of Freeview HD a 28 inch screen or bigger will fully enable you to enjoy the improvement in picture quality. With a 28 inch or larger screen the experience will be more vibrant and you can truly appreciate the benefits of watching programmes in high definition. It is true what people say about television screen sizes, the bigger the size of the screen the more benefit you will notice when compared to a traditional TV screen of the same size. What we recommend is a 20 inch or above screen but one that looks right in the room that you will be watching the Freeview HD channels in.

Freeview HD Signal Checker

Before you buy your new Freeview HD TV please ensure that you are abel to receive the digital signal. There are various ways of doing this, the first is by entering your postcode on the tool at www.freeview.co.uk/HD or you can use your mobile phone and simply send a SMS text message with your postcode to 80560.

What Does High Definition Television (HDTV Mean?)

HDTV - High Definition Television: For TV viewers with a higher resolution than the conventional television speaking generally of HDTV (High Definition Television) and "high-definition television". Currently we talk about Freeview HDTV, when the pictures reached in the vertical resolutions of 720 or 1080 pixels. With an aspect ratio of 16:9, which is fast becoming the standard, one achieves a maximum resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Traditional television is broadcast only with a maximum resolution of 576 lines.

A HD Ready TV is now become standard

HD Ready TVs are now standard in the entertainment industry and when it comes to television. These are usually sold in the form of LCD TVs, and have quality in itself. Such a TV is the future.

Many programs now go on to program only in sending out their Freeview HDTV. To Receive this you need a HD Freeview ready television. With a non-Freeview HD TV (normal TV), you can still see the programs, but they really do not enjoy with their new quality. With an Freeview HD ready television can do it, however, because they are thoroughly prepared for the future.

HD ready TV - in the market sizes

There are now several sizes that you can watch on the market in terms of High Definition LCD TVs. Previously, when the TFT screens were slow, it started mainly in computers with TFT monitors, which have been sold. After it was a great success but we have decided to pass on the entertainment industry. There then came the first LCD screens, or LCD TVs on the market. These were initially quite small, but widened from the sizes that we know today. Some of the Freeview TVs take on virtually almost the cinema screen, as regards the relative size of a living room.

Corresponding parts about how HD DVD or Bluray players today were made and are specific to the functioning system of HD television tuned. Also in the console world has the HD found some TV trailers. The Playstation 3, and the X-Box 360 are HD devices that work with the new technology.

Overall, it has taken very large scale, as the first LCD televisions came on the market. Today Free view HD LCD TVs are here to stay. Most prices, for a TV of this kind, are equal to those that have been paid at that time for tube monitors. These are now no longer available on the market as they have become obsolete total.

Experiences on the Internet and in various magazines that this will be even more integral part of the market because the technology has to offer in comparison to previous devices more easily and today no one can imagine more, again to take a step back. Rather, it goes one step forward. This is not in the current situation imaginable, but who knows what's coming within the next few years on the market. Ahead of the color television came on the market, which was as big as a small refrigerator, you would have never thought that someday appear on the TV market, which are as flat MarketPlace=GBas toda VALUE=y, every Freeview LCD TV.
